Oh, how do you know that you will be a line judge? Have they (Badminton BC) informed you of what you would be doing? All I got was an email to meet this coming Sunday.

The trick to line judging is to remember to keep your eyes on the line (and not follow the shuttle to the line). You have to call it out regardless of how far out the shuttle landed. Good luck!

Are you going to the Orientation session this Sunday? If so, I will be there.

    Oh boy!

Just got my orientation tonight. This is gonna be great! There are seven courts in the arena, and the setup consists of Yonex mats placed straight on the concrete surface of the ice rink (melted). The lights are directly over the middle T for some of the courts though, so I wonder if some of the players may complain. I'll post some pictures after my first shift next week. :D

There was a story on the Fairchild TV (the canadian cantonese channel) about the arrival of the chinese players. But other than that, the tournament hasn't even started yet cooler! :)

Definitely will try and post some pics as the event progress but boy, the orientation session on Sunday was so messy. The committee chair was so paranoia that he wouldn't let anyone help in distributing out the shirts and the accreditation passes that it took just forever to get. There was what, a hundred plus folks there.

I'm in Security (what a joke! :D) and apparently so is BTC2004. Where are you at, 604badder?

They are still looking for line judges but mainly to cover the morning and afternoon sessions during the weekdays.

I'm coming over from the island with a referee and umpire. I'm going to be a line judge. Anyone willing to let me stay at their place that is close to venue??!?!? :D

I will show up 8:45am on Thursday for my orientation/accreditation.

I got thrown in volunteer hospitality lounge, so swing by for a free pop or a granola bar! :) Man, wanted to be a line judge. Oh well, can't make the available slots anyway, and also the lounge is overlooking the whole venue so I can watch all the matches from there even as I work :)

From downtown, you will take the 98B line bus to Richmond from Burrard Stn and get off when it ends at Richmond Centre (you will see Richmond Centre Mall which on the West) and you need to get behind that mall to the Richmond Cultural Centre (the Arena is just next to it). So, basically, walk through the mall (enter on Sears and exit out Coast Mountain Sports) and walk across Minoru Blvd to the RCC.

This Saturday afternoon? Well I'll be there working in the hospitality lounge, so perhaps I'll see you around. You won't be able to come in, but if I see a lost soul peeking in the window, I'll be sure to come on and say hi :)
