Venue : Haixia Olympic Sports Centre, Fuzhou-CHN Total prize-money : US$700,000 Fuzhou Time : http://www.worldtimezone.com/time/wt...ma=Find%20Time Order of Play (05.00pm, 3 courts) : https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/matches.aspx?id=C32490F8-9D1C-4B42-B715-915DAB1DC208 Well, full of surprise coloured second round stage yesterday with the biggest upset is reigning WC Chen Long didn't make it to last eight, his worst result in SS tour this year. MS delivered many unexpected outcome as none of seeded players continue their journey here except 7th seed Hu Yun. Host CHN suffers huge blow in this discipline, only one left to keep local fans hope alive, none but their hero Lin Dan who will meet the resilient Sho Sasaki today. The other three ties is tough to predict, anyone can progress into final four. Chou TC still maintains good run and will be tested by Hu Yun at quarter. WS, Japanese prodigy Akane Yamaguchi stunned China #2 convincingly and we'll looking forward her action against recent improved home youngster Sun Yu. In the absence of formidable Li XR and shock exit of Wang SX, home chance depends on their #3 Wang Yihan who gets tough rival Bae YJ to fight for semifinal spot. Two Korean prominent MD, defending champion Lee YD/Yoo YS and reigning WC Ko SH/Shin BC are the fave to nail title on Sunday. Both of them will be challenged by home pairs, Liu XL/Qiu ZH and Cai Y/Lu K respectively. Bottom half of draw, Endo/Hayakawa v Lee SM/Tsai CH should be interesting to follow. WD, two intriguing encounters, rematch of Incheon AG semifinal, Maheswari/Polii v Tian Q/Zhao YL and European #1 Juhl/Pedersen against former WC Wang XL/Yu Y. Japan has guaranteed 1 semi slot while Luo Twins will face KOR new combo Chang YN/Yoo HW. XD, one of elite pairs Fischer/Pedersen was sent packing by local qualifier Kang J/Luo Ying. China dominates this category with 6 of 8 slots in quarterfinal, only 2 non-Chinese representatives remaining, last year champion Ahmad/Natsir and Korean Yoo YS/Eom HW who will take on home promising talent Zheng SW/Chen QC and second seed Xu C/Ma J respectively. LIVE TV (court 1, 05.00pm) matches : - Cai Yun/Lu Kai (CHN) v Ko Sung Hyun/Shin Baek Cheol (KOR) - Christinna Pedersen/Kamilla Rytter Juhl (DEN) v Wang Xiaoli/Yu Yang (CHN) - Sho Sasaki (JPN) v Lin Dan (CHN) - Suo Di (CHN) v Saina Nehwal (IND) - Yoo Yeon Seong/Eom Hye Won (KOR) v Xu Chen/Ma Jin (CHN)
This is the first time to see Lin Dan felt alone in this tournament after his teammates fall before QF...
Chong Wei would be one of the seeded if... Can't remember when he failed to pass the last 16 in a tournament.
I am pleased with their choice of the XD match-up for the TV court. I consider Eom Hye Won one of the most interesting players to watch. Her deft touches and boundless imagination are fascinating to watch.
If he participated this SSP. No doubt, he is the most consistent MS player in SS circuit. Looking at his CV, his "bad" result is only once semifinal losing in this year calendar, that's why he can maintain the WR #1 status for long period.
I forgot to say that if he were in, the draw would be totally different. We may have 8 totally different players.
Because I have a baddy session between 6 to 8 pm where I am one of the best players. And I can give LD's match a miss because his playing style is boring and the result too predictable.
I doubt Hu Yun of whom I've great respect as a late bloomer can stop the 9-yr younger and fast improving CTC. Anyway, whoever prevails in the end will have a chance to upset Lin Dan next round provided he survives Sho Sasaki today. In the upper half of the draw, all four quarterfinalists have about equal chances to get to the final. If I've to choose one, my intuition tells me it could be P Kashyap. Marc Zwiebler only rises to the occasion and play above himself against certain top players. Both K Srikanth and K Momota are somewhat too inconsistent.
Lin Dan vs Chen Long at the Incheon Asian Games was fantastic to watch, no less than LD vs LCW's many epic battles. LD and CL have even stop sparing with each other at training since LD's comeback, their rivalry can only get more intense as time goes by. In the absence of LCW, LD vs CL will provide us, me at least, the dream finals I long for though occasionally LD or CL versus someone else would be nice too. Whatever, I hope LCW won't be away for too long.
LD and CL, I love them both. Please don't force me to pick one. Just like two equally beautiful women, I want to have both. In reality there is only one winner. I want LD to win but I don't want CL to lose. The solution is I don't watch the match.
