chen Hong really looks bored and has been playing like a zombie since ina Open, but still manages to advance.Esp against Yeoh KB. Wong Choon Han even dared to predict that Yeoh would enter semis.
Nothing wrong with what Choong Hann said, it is just a prediction. Besides, Yeoh took Chen Hong for all he was worth, even beating him back 15-1.
However, it's a sad end for Wong CH who lost to Chen Hong in straight sets. Anyway, well done and good luck to Lee CW. Certainly hope that he will continue his fairy tale run!
strange, worldbadminton.net has the result WONG won 15-10, 15-7 anyone watched it live and can confirm this?
What a pity you guys did not get to watch Lee CW against Lee HI. I heard that the matches were played at the same time on adjacent courts.
Yes Chen Hong beat Wong CH and Lee Chong Wei defeated the Korean, Lee HI. So Lee Chong Wei has a gigantic task ahead of him tomorrow against Chen Hong. Let's hope the delightful tale of David & the Goliath will come true for Chong Wei. Misbun was interviewed on TV and seemed to be very happy with CW's remarkable performance. CW will be the new hero if he wins. Hafiz has dissappointed. So, don't miss the show on RTM1!
It seems that WCH was actually leading CH 7-0 in the first game. Seems uncharacteristic for him to lose focus like that.
Chong Wei boleh Although I was disapointed with the lost of Choon Hann but glad to see new comer Lee Chong Wei made it to the final. I just hope Chong Wei can maintain his form and give Chen Hong a fierceful fight. Another upcoming star for Malaysia. Malaysia Boleh
nSmash : u mentioned that it is uncharacteristic for WCH to loose concentration? I think it is one of his more prominent characteristics hahah Anyways... I was there at the M'sian Open today. (basking in the aura of all my heros ) Was sitting a couple of seats away from Bao Chun Lai. Watched WCH loose.. *was going to cheer for Chen Hong.. but sitting amidst the Malaysian supporters.. thats kinda dangerous* I want to see LCW play.. and he played well indeed. A stroke player, kind of like Ong Ewe Hock cept subject to less "error fits". e.g. He would choose to drop instead of a smash, tends to prolong the game.. not take the quick kill option. he plays alot of crosscourts netshots.. and he kept playing the "pull n push" lift.. (you know, when u wait till the last moment and flick etc etc?).. even though he hit the 1st few out.. he adjusted pretty quickly and played it to very good effect. He has a trademark overhead crosscourt *outside slice* drop. Which seems to get him alotta points.. - saw him do that to Hafiz in SUKMA(Malaysian Games).. Hafiz could not reply at all* One of the most important things to mention about him. Solid Defence. He made alot of unexpected returns which threw LHI off quite a number of times. Even though he is a much shorter player, he does not 'dive' as often.. and still manages to do spectacular saves.. pretty quick.. Over all, a tricky player with solid defence.. something different from the power power power we have been seeing? *i have nothing against power players.. * Having said so many nice things about LCW, I also managed to see Chen Hong play up close.. .. dun look like he is gonna lose.. *unless he has an injury*.. he simply starts a little slow.. (e.g. WCH's 7-0 lead) but when he starts moving up the gears.. most players are left behind.. *WCH will know all abt it hehehe CH even patted him on the back after he lose hahahah* And how many "solid defences" have stood up to Chen Hong's firepower? << not many eh? But all the best to LCW << newest favorite player Last words abt the torney "some of da WS players are HOT " << I remember there was a post on this?? maybe can revive it.. there are newer ones coming
If Lee CW is too defensive, he will not be able to overcome Chen Hong. You can recover from 2 or maybe 3 stinging attacks, but eventually, Chen Hong's relentless attacks will break his opponents down. Lee CW has to play his cards right, and if he played like how Hafiz did in the AE finals, then he has a chance. Hafiz did not really give Chen Hong very many chances to do his airborne attacks, maybe CW has too look into that. Lee CW sounds like to me more like a deceptive and defensive player, he could be relying on a lot of counter-attacks to win points. All the best to CW in the finals....
As Misbun describes, a player with Wong C H s courtcraft and strokes, Roslin's defence, Hafiz's deception, Lee TS's drives and an inferiority complex. Of course references to ong Ewe Hock were omitted. To expect Lee to beat Ch ? Maybe as it is played in Sabah.
