WOW!!! What a Fantastic match of badminton with both the players giving their 120%,,,,,,Jeon HJ what an impressive performance.Worthy Champion.Time and again going for his shots.Such a brilliant offensive style.Keep it up...................And Tian HW,what a fighter....from 13-6 down to save two match points...A bit tired in the end but still a very good week for him..
Other than for the top 8 who will play the SSF, for the rest, most of them this is probably their final tournament of the year, a long, hard season, and they are tired to varying degrees. So if they push themselves too hard, they risk injury.
Come to think of it, THW has been playing non-stop the whole year. I'm surprised he could up his intensity and pace in the match just now, instead of withering away.
I believe it's 2013 London GP Gold, CMIIW. Second disappointment in a row for Tian HW as he lost narrowly to the underdog 20 years old Jeon Hyeok Jin. Jeon HJ won his maiden title in Macau after losing in the final at Malaysia Masters and Indonesia IC, well done! Korea has some promising youngsters after Son WH era, Jeon HJ, Heo KW and Seo SJ. A hat-trick for P.V. Sindhu, excellent play throughout this tournament. A tragic ending for HKG women's doubles, terrible injury hampered Poon LY. Once again, Jung KE/Shin SC top the podium due to their opponent retired after Denmark Premier. Mixed doubles and men's doubles final were pretty predictable.
Three times runner-up is his best achievement in this season, Asian Badminton Championships, Hong Kong Superseries and Macau GP Gold. Will he rise next year to win a Superseries title?
Correct, Tian Houwei's last title win was the London GPG 2013. Before that was his overnight-sensation triumph over Lee CW en route to taking the AUS GPG 2013, for which his final opponent was the then 19-yr-old Xue Song who incidentally was making his debut performance in the senior international circuit.
THW's strategy is to work his opponent and wait for a mistake or weak return which he then puts away. It works with players who are unfit. For him to start winning tournaments he needs to have a more devastating smash and better net play. Compare how many easy points JHJ got from his smashes. LCW can break down CL's superb defence with his attacks and deception. THW also needs to cut down his simple errors. There are just too many of them in every game. There's no doubt he has improved a lot especially his speed and patience. More stamina and power would make him an exciting player to watch. I wish him all the best.
