I'm a little confused. So what you guys are kinda saying is there isn't much difference between 24-29 pounds for an intermediate player? That only past 30 you'll feel a major difference? I'm asking because I usually use 24 but my coach gave me a new racket as a gift and after playing with it for awhile with obviously no power loss he gave me a cheeky smile and said it was 27. I felt no difference in my game at all either good or bad. I had all the strength and accuracy and what not I normally do and I was kinda wondering why. Am I just accurate enough to deal with a sudden increase? Or is 24-27 not really gonna affect your play that much? (I'm female btw, don't know if that changes anything.)
It's not that there's no difference, it's just most players will find their comfort zone somewhere in those tensions. Also it depends on the stringer. Could've been a loose 27.
Okay. My coach strung both so I assume it's the same "style." Although I really know very little about strings and rackets.
recommend tension for male 70kg-170cm 26lbs 65kg-170cm 25lbs 60kg-170cm 24lbs +5cm increase 1lbs -5cm decrease 1lbs +5kg increase 1lbs -5kg decrease 1lbs one week play one day decrease 1lbs one week play few days increase 1-2lbs
Then I'd end up with 33 lbs at least. I'd really like to try the Voltric 10 DG, but it's not available in Germany and I'm not sure if I want my other rackets to suffer from this tension. Seriously, where did you get those suggestions? I don't see any correlations between height, weight, how often you play and string tension. I'd really like to know the thoughts behind that. To me it comes down to technique (including footwork to be able to hit the shuttle from a good position) and personal preference mostly. For different rackets, I like different strings with different tensions, but neither my size nor my height changes and that is in the same session. How can you explain that if not via personal preferences?
i went from 24lbs to 28lbs (just out of curiosity) and i noticed the difference immediately. Everthing went bad at 28lbs. sticking to 24lbs, at least i know for sure now where i am at
It is and it threw me for a loop but surprisingly my go to tension is the "correct" tension according to his post LOL ! What a weird coincidence. I wonder what other people's "recommended" (according to his method) lands at and if it is anywhere close to what they're using or are comfortable with.
Someone I know uses 24. His "correct" tension would be something in between 38 and 40. Maybe even more. He is tall and big (not fat).
I cannot remember a time I was 70kg...lol. Maybe when I was 10 years old perhaps. So using your formula I would be 34lbs. Kinda off IMO. I play with 28lbs. Kindest regards, -Ajay- Quote of the Day If you're never scared or embarrassed or hurt, it means you never take any chance
Really muscular I imagine? I'm currently at 6"3' / 79.6KG but am still not where i'd like to be in terms of fat level despite my 2 months of diet changes and whatnot. Someone really should establish a ceiling for this method however. Even putting 34 through the frame of my ZF2 twice made me sweat profusely given the cost of the darn racket.
Ha ha ha.... I tried your formula. But Yonex won't replace my broken rackets!! They say there's no warrenty at 38 lbs. Btw. I like how simple it is, no parameter for skill or age. But based on fat and persistence Cheers, FB
Currently my DZS string with Li Ning No1 at 28lbs.My 88D string with Z63 Thin string at 28lbs also. But i feel the feedback of 88D when hitting the shuttle is too soft, can't feel the punch. Can anyone recommend a String and Tension to increase the feedback without loosing too much of the repulsion.
Sorry for digging up an old post but I couldnt help but lol'ed at this. Goodness man, how much were u eating at 10 years old to weigh 70kg???
