IMO LCW had a really big chance this time to win the WC. LD wasn't really in good shape and that well prepared. He even said that the tournament wasn't too important to him. Why should it after having won 3 WC titles? So I expect LD to play on such a high level at the OG 2012 that LCW won't be able to follow. LD is just too good!
What LD said was to reduce the pressure on him. Also to prepare an excuse and lessen the value of the WC should LCW win. Remember AE used to be high value until LCW won it?Come OG12, LD will say the same thing. He is not too concerned about winning the OG title because he has one already. Winning a second one would be a bonus. Mark my words.
Agree. LD and the Chinese team know how to play down and deflect the pressure and expectations on their performance. They always say this before all the championships... always. Compare this to poor LCW and KKK/TBH where their coaches and the press have to raise expectations and put extra pressure by saying "yes, this time they'll win" or some such. Even the prime minister has to call poor LCW before the final to pressure him by saying "you got to win this for Malaysia" etc.
the umpire for each match will be the one who records those stats. smash winners, hopefully, will be easy to recognize and classify.. as for the 3 net winners in the last game, i'll have to find a time to sit down and watch game 3..
the umpire these days with tournamentsoftware are no longer doing the scorekeeping. they have become rally winner input person. all they need to do is to click which side won the rally and how, then the scoring is updated and propagated electronically to the local flat panels, online, etc, etc.
Tournamentsoftware Statistic. When player 1 smashes cross court and player 2 dives to save the bird and it went tumbling over the net. Here the umpire either tick "other" or "net winner" but most probably the latter one. The statistic only shows how the point was won. Nothing much really... a player can smash 100 times but if only 10 of them is effective in winning points, it will be ticked by the umpire. So some viewers will assume this player is not that aggressive
