It's just incredible considering that in the previous match, in both of the sets va was actually leading by more then 10 points in each set. How naraoka can turn it around is fascinating. And even in the 3rd set, he can still catch up despite trailing by so far. Dun think any players can do that to be honest. And he was playing against an axelsen who would probably do his very best considering he lost to prannoy
When Lin Dan lost to Jorgensen in 2014 Japan Open, LD was the victim of a free point which JOJ received in G1 which ended 21-19 to JOJ
Viktor doesn't have the bravery of a big brother, if he wins, he screams, when he loses, he gets angry. Not like Chen Long. I once saw Chen Long encouraging Momota after Momota's make error at net shot. Momota was number 1 in the world at that time while Naraoka is now just a young boy who is ranked 15th
Why another draw for semifinal is conducted? I thought the winner of one group faces the runner up of the other group. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not related to badminton. But just realized if your luck is bad, everything will go against you Even my bet for Argentina win actually lost when Netherland score in last minute of extra time and Victor axelsen actually performed badly against naraoka when all he needs is just to win the first 2 sets which should be easy on paper. Also the current Thai mixed double. Was leading by such a huge margin in the first set and then indo managed to catch up. Today is just a total write off. Sorry for my rant. I guess you know who I am.
To ensure you won’t play the top of the other group? This rule is only because of the incident from Olympic 2012
I dunno. It's still do not seem right for me. Even from a competition point, playing the same players twice in a competition just do not seem right. There should be incentive of finishing top. Maybe they should just give more prize money when someone finishes top. Or from a competitive point of view. The winner of the group only needs to win 1 set to win the semi finals. Something like that. Or winner of group get to choose ends and serve.
Just managed to watch some points at the end of G3 and Naraoka was amazing!!! At that level, boy will enter Top 5 soon. Btw, his game contains a lot of running and retrieving, seems so physically demanding. Hope that he will stay healthy and injury-free, won't be like Okuhara.
Naraoka should have wrapped it up in the second game. He needs to figure out his playing style, he’s going to be extremely exhausted long term and start losing games he could have won, unless he can somehow build extra fitness like CTC.
hbj hit the net. if you watch the slo-mo replay you'll see a quick faint light wave distortion come from the net tape on her follow through after the shuttle is already past the net. keep your eye on the tape on her follow through. i saw it pretty clearly on first sight of the youtube slo-mo replay. if you run it frame by frame it's very obvious. it would be easy to spot when viewing from the umpire chair.
re. cyf's double hit... if you're looking at the head of her racket it does appear to 'stops a bit and then racket goes forward'... our instinctive initial focal point is to watch the racket. instead watch her wrist. her wrist does not stop moving forward. this would constitute a single stroke. if replay for this existed what would the reviewing umpire focus on? the racket, the wrist, both? this is why replay doesn't work 100% of the time. it's still a human making the decision. in any case it's a difficult split-second call to make in real time.
it also wouldn't have mattered. TTY was on a roll and was impressively avoiding her usual silly unforced errors
FINALS => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/tournament/C99D04D4-0B11-416E-9F7B-3C1617AB775F/matches A blockbuster WS final is underway, Yamaguchi and Tai TY take revenge over Chinese rival in two straight games. A wasting golden chance and unlucky turnaround psychologically has affected Chen to keep focus in second game and the inevitable one sided atmosphere occured. Another Chinese hopeful faltered, redundant unforced error after interval break plus fault at the net that supposed to yield point ruined He BJ winning scheme in the second as the exquisite-skilled Taiwanese got second wind to raise her game and fixed inaccuracy. The evergreen Daddies tackle difficult examination to surmount MAS obstacle, Ahsan obviously exhausted to balance speed and power. Liu YC/Ou XY are favour to seal the title based on head to head stats and strong performance here unless Ahsan/Setiawan have exact formula to stem their fast furious attack. Chen/Jia will be unstoppable to reclaim 2019 crown, practically the world number one pair are unrivalled and find no heavyweight opponent along this tournament. Aimsaard sisters display noteworthy development in last 12 months and will join world top ten soon. MS semifinal produces repetition result, Ginting eliminates compatriot Christie in three games. Asian Games Champion stamina wise is better than Tokyo Olympic Games bronze medalist but technical skill favours to Ginting such as net play, deceptive shot and creativeness. Jojo created inspirational comeback to close deficiency from 6-14 to 18-18 but Ginting who looked fatigue didn’t bow out into panic. A breathtaking and high quality 83 mins duel, Naraoka unleashes true potential to balance Axelsen tactical play with his speedy game to frustrate and pushed current best MS into the limit. The mighty Dane has mounting pressure to overcome JPN rising star, only incredible mental toughness and experience that assisted him to surpass this unexpected arduous test, feeling of relief as expressed by his body language on final point.
