Anyone notice kwun's sudden absence? I reckon the unwashed grapes must have kicked in. Better send the ambulance over to check him out.
Like many here, I too am (pleasantly) surprised by the new turbo-charger TH has installed in his game. The ability to last 3 games against a younger and tough opponent is quite impressive. Wonder how much he has left for the final though? I think must be a dream final of sorts for the crowd.
I quote this from badzine : Another highlight match of the day was Indonesian veteran Taufik Hidayat against Chinese talent Chen Long (pictured left). Fresh off a win at the China Open last weekend, Chen won the first game 21-15 but Taufik bounced back in the second 21-11. In the decider, Taufik Hidayat (pictured top) was always lagging behind in score but he got full support from the local fans, even though he was facing a Chinese player in Hong Kong. Taufik leveled up at the crucial moment when it was all square at 19-19. The crowd gave him a big hand when he earned his match point and all he needed was one as he wrapped it up 21-19. “It was a tough match for me. But you can always see me smiling when playing today because I think every spectator enjoyed the match very much. I can see their happy faces and I was glad to win the match,” said Taufik. The Indonesian told Badine he wants his baby boy to watch him playing on court and in action in tournament when he grows up. “He is only six months old now and I think it will take two or three years for him to be old enough to know what’s happening inside the court,” said Taufik. To make his dream come true, Taufik needs to continue his career for at least two more years. full article here : http://www.badzine.net/news/hong-kong-open-–-semi-chong-wei-and-taufik-again/10469/
..imo, that match was 50-50, even if TH is nearly 10 yrs older than CL. It all comes down to the players' skill and experience; in this case, TH is still supreme.. ..it depends: If 5-6 yrs back, Taufik was supreme. If from 3-4 yrs back to now, Lin Dan has been supreme. ..i believe the H2H record between PSH vs. LD is 12-4 in favor of LD; in fact, PSH has only won 1 match in their last 10 meetings. So, in PSH's case, it's not so much abt LD's style can be beat..
