watching her play in the all england open today is like watching reruns of an old sad movie. You see a really good start and your hopes rise. .. by the second set you start to remember the story, where the main character deteriorates dramatically, without reason and finally burst into flames ... repeat. I feel so sorry for her.. I wish something could be done to help her physical problems.. Because you saw that first game and you know she's that good

looks like gjw nowdays is like having a holiday and doing exhibition games. Hope she got enough sponsors for her to go for future tournaments next year. She is lucky to have contracts signed for this year. I think it may dry up for next year. Not sure if she will even qualify for OG next year with such a performance. Can't blame her much due to her illness. She would have been a wc contender. She needs plan B outside badminton. My guess is she will retire next year. Tough luck. ;)

Had to retire in her second round match in Swiss open.

If it's related to her health issue, then that's a real pity.

Playing in the lower ranked tournaments seems ok. Playing in the bigger tournaments seem to be too demanding - opponents can wear you down by playing longer rallies.

Wow..she was able to overcome her stamina problems to beat PVS. That's huge! Granted Sindhu was not in form..still that should boost her morale and confidence somewhat. Congratulations

Her stamina problem is of playing a series of matches over consecutive days. If it’s a one off match, she’s a good team player.

She was short of breath at the end of the 3rd game. At one point, she held up Sindhu's serve, indicating she needs to breathe.

In the third set, she was having fun while being exhausted to death. She found PV Sindhu's weakness, which was just criss-cross shots

Even with that huge point difference loss against TTY. It's no shame. I hope she finally gets more attention from up above ( as per LZJ and the Sports Minister recently)

I watched her two consecutive matches in quarter finals where she beat Han Yue in three sets and lost to Zhang Yi Man in the semifinals in two sets. I don't think she had enough time to recover enough for the semi final. Not sure the lesser ability to recover is a product of her lack of fitness or her previous operation or both.

I think GJW most likely will play only until the olympics before she hung up her racket for good. So far she still qualify as she's the highest ranked WS frm MY.

Yea I think she's just pushing it until the Olympics, at the end of all her 3 set matches her face is as pale as snow white. She has an elite skill set, but unfortunately her fitness cannot be compensated

Yeah, her fitness can't be compensated no matter how hard she train. There's just a physical barrier which she cannot overcome, sometimes I just feel very sad seeing her struggling especially when a lot of terrible comments in the social media whenever she lose a match.

    Her skills are very good.
If she is not hampered by her health issues, and with better height, the sky is the limit.
