Post-match interview with Viktor is just hilarious. He's totally not in the mood to talk. The interviewer asked what's the problem in the 3rd set? Viktor said there isn't enough air time to talk about it. The interviewer then says "Too many easy mistakes"? Viktor, annoyed, said "THAT'S A GREAT ANALYSIS".
I don't think he deals well mentally when being challenged. The pressure of being an olympic gold medalist gets to him. He loses it every time his opponent have a good lead. He looks like he wants to cry and give up. As he said in an interview, it's not an issue with his body. He feels great in training. So it is definitely psychological. This reminds me of Kento Momota...haunted by his own greatness in the past.
I’m fairly confident AA will handle him well. Today Popov was charged up to secure his Olympics spot, and he was partly helped by VA’s implosion Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Even AA Just passed by 24 & 27 against Merkle! Tomo should beat AA as well VA (& even AA) should go-back to Denmark & Train together until Olympics..but professional coaches Kenneth/team can help more. France is getting improved day-by-day... Challenging Denmark in MS. Btw, where is Germany MS?. After hard-working Marc Zwiebler, no big break-through in MS. Against Lee Chong Wei, Marc used to put full efforts. Planning to watch LCW/Marc match!
AA, a Victor sponsored player, just said "the floor here is horrible, it's like playing in the parking lot to be honest" lmao
as expected Anders dispatches Toma quite easily (especially in the second set), but both Popov brothers are the ones to look out in the future. but what a difference between Asia championship and this crappy BEC event, so a lot of wtfs: mix final on Saturday? no hawk eye in most important European tournament of the year (and the line calls were terrible...), players presentation and ceremonies were so 80'ies ...
Toma plays wrongly, he should use high forehand serve all the time against Antonsen to prevent him from gaining early control of rallies by doing tricky shots from front court.
may be he meant court mat on just concrete? no serious tournament should happen in such conditions, unless you want to injure lots of players (or it is organized by BEC ...), as far I remember this is the case in Saarbrucken hall
When I posted this I actually confused the tournament sponsor with Badminton Asia's one which is Victor. But it still makes sense: AA probably won't openly criticize Victor's floors, while 99% of the players absolutely trashed on it It's the bad playing condition here plus it's Yonex sponsored so he dared to make such a statement. Not sure about this being the most important EU tournament of the year, but totally agree with the hawk eye thing. How could this be possible in 2024?
