No you are wrong. When it's a touch it's a touch, even the shuttle touches slightly on your hair it's still a touch and it's fault. The point is whether the judges see it and whether you are honest enough to declare it.

I am now trying to recover the asf file and have a clear look on that point.

You are right, I did bet on Zheng/Zhao. Good catch, smart eyes. I forgot myself. I always thought Zheng Bo can smash, but forgot he never won anything big. Thanks for your correction.

You look like a scientist ;)

But according to physics, an event can only be detected by interaction with others. If the change of the physical state is undetectable, people will always argue, (people here = two parties of players and referees). The other possibility is that even there were a slight touch, Chen Hong might not noticed either, which doesn't mean Chen Hong is not honest.

By the way, When Chen Hong was playing Korea open several years ago, they found some precious lost stuff of others (Money? jewelry? I cannot remember), then he did sacrifice his training schedule, his time and his energy to find the best place to return those stuff. Finally he did very poor on court at that tournament. But I think he's cool off court that time at least. Maybe he's a little bit stubborned, he should concentrate on badminton instead of others. Anyhow, Basically, I think, Chen Hong is a pretty honest guy.

Thanks anyway, for your investigations and further research.

Some corrections, Chen hong found a big bag in the street alone during Korea open. There were $270,000 cash, two cash checks with $100,000 and $30,000,000 ( ), one CD ($ 1,700,000) and two credit cards. There were Korean dollars, but Chen Hong could only read the number, so he thought that's a huge huge money. I have no idea about Korean dollars either. So he waited alone on the street waiting for someone's back. He waited 40 minutes alone without anyone looking for it. Then he reported to the Hotel manager where he was in, and nobody cared, then he reported to the bank, bank didn't care either, then he reported to the police, the police took the whole stuff.

Not sure how valuable about that package. Are all Koreans millionaires?

    Bao should win

If you follow the stars or "Feng-shui", tonight is BCL's night. Fate has determined he will win. But CH trains with him and is more experienced. Still, BCL will win in two close fought sets..

Interesting story. 1000won is almost exactly US$1. 270,000won cash would be a big chunk but the numbers must be wrong because a CD couldn't cost US$1700. US$30,000 cheques are possible but not common. That's the kind of thing you might use to pay key money on an apartment or buy a car.

    sorry for unclear message. Here

    CD is NOT Compact Disc,

    CD = Certificate of Deposit

a CD(Certificate of Deposit) has $1,700 is okay in most countries.

And the two cheques are Cashier's Checks so they can be cashed out by anyone who has them.

Aah. Sorry for being slow on the uptake. That all makes sense. I understood Cashier's Cheques. That's all we have here: no personal. The only thing I can guess about why people wouldn't want to get involved would be a communication barrier. Police would be the only logical people to go to. The bank and hotel likely didn't understand that Chen wanted them to deal with the police. In 2002, the Korea Open was held in a very small provincial city and many of the athletes were in upscale love hotels: No concierge, no foreign-language trained staff. If it were 2002, it wouldn't surprise me. Even in Incheon or Choongju, though, such a scenario would be conceivable. Any idea where you read that story?

In a game with an umpire, the onus is not on the player to declare. If an umpire catches one player's fault but not another's, then a declaration by a player who happens to be honest and happens to perceive something only sometimes perceptible like hair or clothing contact, it could skew the results.

Anyways, I looked at the video again and I can confirm that the shuttle hit chen hong's face before he returned the shuttle with his racquet. The umpire should not see it as it was on the other side and it was totally out of sight for him, the service judge should have seen it. Gade didn't see it probably because he slipped at the moment he smashed.

Man the point was so important in determinating the game as it was the point where chen hong leads into match point.

I can't cut that part out for you guys as it is a streaming file, failed to make it seekable too ... you guys who have the video file can probably have a look.

after watching the video,at 37 mins, i think the shuttle had touched CH body first before CH hit the return drive shot from PG. Too bad video slow mo can't overrule the umpire's omission.

What goes around comes around though, CH lost to Shon WC2003 in part due to a false decision by umpire that said he was over the net, that gave Shon a game point
