Professional players are better than us mere mortals. That not debatable. However, they are still human and make mistakes/have tendencies that make even us go..."what were they thinking?"

I'll start off with my absolute favorite: Wakana Nagahara's serve. I don't understand why she serves like that. It's barely a high serve that just invites a smash, which puts her partner Matsumoto at a disadvantage. I just don't understand why she would give up the advantage like that.

I have plenty more, but I thought I'd open up the floor for anyone else who would like to talk some smack about our pros :D

The most recent that's on my mind is when Lakshya Sen (china open, men's singles) hit a simple net kill at the centre way outside the side lines @ Set point/19 in the first set which he then lost.
And later on the game too.

Likely nerves, stress, sweat, heat, or just mindgaming himself thinking the opponent would be able to defend if he aimed straight.

    Thank you for the link.

It's not as bad as you are making it out. The camera angle is terrible for judging the height of shots coming over the net.

It landed like 2cm wide of the inside tram line, I was expecting it to be much worse lol
