So i played badminton about 4 weeks ago and there was "very minimal" pain under my Right knee cap It didnt hurt very much but i felt like if i kept jumping and running it would have gotten worse. So i took a 3 week break and played again. i could play but the pain on my right knee made me think twice before jumping and running. The next day it hurt whenever i was getting up from my bed. It doesn't hurt anymore after like the 3rd day. Has another experience this? Someone said its the patella tendon but i'm not sure if this is correct. Just wondering what i should do? Should i play for one for session and see how i go? Or should i take a break? if so how long should i take? "I went to doctor and took an xray she said there was nothing wrong with my knee bones?"
Under the knee cap? That's a tough one. I've had similar pain but it's usually gone after a few minutes. I say it's best to first consult a healthcare professional then decide whether you want to play another session or not.
I'm facing the same too. But just a couples minutes pain. After match everything fine. Do I need to get a consult for their professional advise ??
Well it never hurts to go see a doctor but I can't say it's necessary for your case. It sounds like you just need some rest or something
Could be due to a lot of reasons. In my case, the chiropractor said I overuse my legs and my knee cap is misaligned. I reduce my playing from 4 times to 2 times a week, use strap, warm up and stretch prior and after. that seems to help. There are a lot of information here and I find them really useful. http://www.knee-pain-explained.com/chondromalaciapatella.html
used to experience it too. exactly just like yours. at first it seems like its alright continuing playing, afterall its just a small pain well, NO. its not alright. that small pain affect my game and reducing my reaction time by a big margin. i become afraid to do long lunge, run, and jump because those movement hurt! The result is predictable, opponent easily dominate and I keep feeding them many late, short return Usually i play 3 times a week. But finally I try to stop it for good. 2 weeks without badminton, then start over again only once a week. Result is good, no more pain. I can move vigorously without thinking i'll hurt my knee. I think i'll increase my play time slowly and safely until i can play 3 times a week without overstraining my knee again This exercise video will help you "A LOT" : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHNqaPrCpvY
has anyone tried these? taufik used two different types of strap on his two knees. Any difference between these two?
one is just tendon protection, the other seems to be more heavy duty, possible restricting knee cap lateral movement
pcll99, I have tried a couple of the knee straps, I find the McDavid to be pretty good, it has "level" indications depending on the level of support you require. I find this knee strap slightly better than others especially the tubular, non-slip buttress applies constant compression at the patellar tendon. Good thing is that I can easily get it here or the states. http://www.mcdavidusa.com/sportmed/knee I use the 414 MCDAVID Level 2 Knee Strap / patella for my games. I have it on my right knee because that's the knee which takes most of the weight / force. For more heavy duty one, I use the Neo-G Open Knee Support. http://www.neo-g.co.uk/product/Stabilized_Open_Knee_Support. It has flexible metal spiral on the side inserts which gives you lots of flexibility and support. This one is costly but gives you the best support. The only thing I don't like is the color.. I wish they were black.
i guess the simple answer is this: ask your physiotherapist which strap is best for your particular injury!!! Right?
Patellar Tendonitis This is called jumpers knee, which currently i suffering. Visit here for more info. http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/sport-injuries/knee-pain/jumpers-knee
stage 1: ice and NSAID. stage 2: acupuncture. stage 3: physiotherapy . stage 4: resumption of moderate activity with proper strap.
I also started to suffer from small pain right under the knee cap (left side). This pain usually got worse after playing for one hour and longer. I used kinesiology tape for the first time now and was surprised how much it helped. I was able to play 3 hours without even noticing my knee more than a bit. Just look up in the sticky thread about taping.
