Hi all! I was just wondering what is the highest tension ever? I know jens erikson has 36lbs but is there any pictures of collapsed racket due to the tension being too high? Cheers
There are many collapsed rackets, even at 27-29lbs. The highest I've ever strung was BG65 at 32/35lbs. on an MP99. Highest I've ever played was BG80 at 30/33lbs. on my Woven 7. But I didn't like the feel as much as 27/30lbs. All this is moot compared to Pete who goes 32/35.2lbs. regularly. I wonder how high he's gone, ever?...
That doesn't count. What about a normal racket? If counting all rackets, I strung my original, old school Pete Sampras Wilson Pro Staff (~1987) tennis racket at 80lbs. once with Leonia UFO (Fluorescent Pink String). Does anyone remember that?
years ago. the owner of Luxis Sports strung a Ti-10 at 40lbs. i think the racket self destructed within minutes of being used.
Yeap, some ppl in S'pore have them. http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19825 http://www.bbesports.com/racket_La_Fleche.htm
Dill had a Carlton Airblade AS1 strung at 40lb That racquet is rated by the manufacturer to 40lb The racquet survived but I don't think Dill liked playing with it The thread is in the forum somewhere...
Ha ha ha, people still remember me and my madness after all this time. Looking back I thought I played quite well with it and I ended up giving them away, they're still going to this day in the hands of another. Felt like hitting a board but it makes you realise the addage that the higher the tension the smaller the sweet spot and how your technique has to be better to cope. Might try it again sometime if I can lay my hands on some AS1's
I did a 45lbs job on my AT500 during my first ever string job because I didn’t know the machine is yet calibrated and believed the dial is correct. The racket manages to survive when it was sitting on the machine but found collapsed the next morning after I took it out. It was such an awful experience for a first time stringer. LOL
Master Dan, you go through strings every 7 to 9 days. Maybe the better clamps of the Aria makes more sense even though it costs more.
