We have all heard and some have even played with such legendary racquets as Yonex Boron 2 and Carbonex 20, yet can racquets like these be hailed as the greatest racquets of all time? What are your top five favorite racquets of all time? :D

I second that. I don't think many people will think the MP 90/99 is a racquet to be an ultimate, but defiantely one of the best racquets I've ever come across.

    Cab 8 is another one.

As to how does one decide on the ultimate racquet?

I guess it must have some of these attributes:
Certain level of power (in a sense)
    Certain level of quality
Certain number of people who love it

I don't really know how else to say it. The criteria is rather broad. Just like a movie that turns into a classic. Has many great elements (ie acting, directing, script), and those put together just make a classic. Just as a racquet who has certain qualities (not all the same) ends up being a classic over time.

You still see people hunting for Ti-10's and Cabx20 and CAbx8s. Look at how many times Yonex remodelled the CAb20. Even the Ti-10 has at least two or three versions: Ti-10 Long and Ti-10 3U I believe are the two I'm thinking of...

    2. Cab20
    3. Cab9 (the old T-joint ver)
    4. Ti-10
    5. MP99

I really liked the old T-joint Cab15 as well... I think
it performed much better than the 1 piece ver...

I used to complain about Ti 7 for it's head lightness causing it to not enough power, which is why I bought the MP77. But last night I went to the gym, I feel totally at ease using my Ti 7. It felt very powerful and swift; smashes were devastating, and defense was superb. It's also durable; it survived so many clashes throughout the years

I also got to try out my sister's Ti 10 awhile back. That always felt like a good racket..although I've only tried it like twice in the gym...but I like swinging it around at home, especially with the 2 storey high family room we have

This is how any business makes money to stay in business, is to develop newer products, with improvements in technology, and enhanced benefits.
You pay more for marketing, and also so that the pros can use their equipment courtesy of us... in essence if you see your favorite pro using a certain racquet, and in turn you go out and purchase that racquet, you are supporting your favorite pro ;)

Although I've played with MANY MANY racquets from a wide array of manufacturers ;)...

For myself my favorite 5 as follows.

    1. YY Boron200
    2. YY Blacken
    3. YY Ti10
    4. YY Cab20 (and the variants long, muscle & tour... I know that's cheating :D)
    5. YY Cab8 (the old aluminum frame versions with the carbon graphite shaft)/ and or MP100 (cant decide I rather enjoyed them both)

I have tried other various racquets from Forza, LeVeL, Mizuno, Gosen, Winex, Yang Yang, Talbot Torro, Carlton, Prince, Karakal, Pro Kennex, Victor etc etc etc... but the 5 listed above are my favorites of all time, as I've never really had any big issues with them at all!! (other than eventual breakage :p)

I forgot to add for the NewGuy_04

That the Carbonex series was essentially developed as a no frills "traditional" (if you can call it that), oval shaped racquet series. (although Yonex has been adding newer technology to the latest racquets... wonder when we'll see an muscle armortech power with Ultimum Tritanium??? :p)
Robust, and durable, the series offered variants for every type of player, with little cash outlay.
Absolutely superb, and many player's favorite series.

The Carbonex line of racquets for Yonex has been around since the beginning of Yonex's operations... I dont remember the older model of Yoneyama racquets, but I do remember Carbonex being released waaaaaay back in the day, probably before I was born :p

I think it may still be Yonex's "bread and butter" racquet through out asia.
It's not always justifiable for players in other countries earning minimum wages to spend hundreds of dollars on a racquet, when they can play just as well using one that maybe cost them $50.

IMHO I think there should be an additional qualification of "at which period" was the racket the ultimate....

For example, I though Cab 8 was the best racket (went through 4 of these - reds, blues and even a orange/yellow one) in the 80s...
Then I thought the Cab 20 was THE racket...in the ninties...
and now, playing them all (at one session) I think the MP99 is worth all its made out to be....

Then after getting on BF, and looking at all the rackets avail- I may be inclined to choose Armortech 800 if an when I get to try it....
