Semifinals Asia Cup Prediction --> INA vs CHN

Discussion in 'General Forum' started by Pebulutangkis, May 4, 2001.

  1. PREDICTION for Semifinal 1

    INA vs CHN
Hidayat vs Chen H --> if Hidayat is in form it is bye bye Chen
Candra/Sigit vs Zhang/Zhang --> INA will trash CHN here, even half asleep
Hendrawan vs Chen Y --> Chen Yu is so lousy, how can he beat Hendrawan
-INA will win no matter what happens.

p.s: i'm gonna watch the match at Indoor Stadium. If I had mobile internet, i can post results score by score, but too bad i dun have heheheh

    Latest result:-
    Indonesia bt Korea 2-1
    China bt Malaysia 2-1
Japan bt Thailand 3-0 ( according to tele-text of SBA )
    HK bt S'pore 2-1.

So the cross-over semis should be:-
    Indonesia vs Thailand &
    Korea vs China.

China beat Malaysia 2-1? Did Chen Hong lose to Malaysia's no. 1?

I thought he won, i was concentrating more on indonesia's matches there. Anyway, i think Chen Hong will beat Taufik tomorrow and INA will take the other 2 games. The doubles, INA will definately win. For the last 1, CHN:INA Its about 1:20

I'm sure that Taufik will be able to get rid of Chen Hong tomorow.
He did not play his normal game just now, I suspect that INA have a special strategy against Korea.
He did not try to attack Lee Hyun I just now, he never even smash.
Two days ago when he played Ronald, when he was down, he tried very hard to catch up with the points.
But just now, he was still able to fool around and when the match end, he was smiling and his coach too.

Errrrrr, head to head count overrides pts. scored, So Thailand tops Gr.B.
Chen Hong appears to have gathered momentum. So he could beat Taufik if he played as if it was the AE & Taufik played as if he was playing Ronald on the first day.
But Zhang/Zhang have also shown devastating form. They trashed Chan/Chew in under 20 mins., so if the Indonesian pair is over-confident & played below par, they might be done in .
Chen Yu's strategy should be the keep the game going for as long as possible to sap all the energy from the elder Hendrawan & hope for the 1 in 20 chance to evaporate.

The two semis should be played simultaneously to be fair to those reaching the finals.Reason is obvious....... they will then have equal resting/recuperating time before their showdown.

Good analysis Alvin. Don't know much about Chen Yu , only

that he lost to Yeoh Kay bin in semis of world juniors.

Maybe he could try playing at a furious pace with many rallies and minimising mistakes to wear down opponent like Ji did in Olympics.

yep the report in 1 of the media's had INA's coach saying that his players were all not gonna play properly. i didnt watch the match so i don't know. but today i'll watch the semis, i'll gve u all reports later.

TO ALVIN: ina will trash china in 1st semis, then they can rest. but kor will bt thailand but dun have so much rest time. this is good!!!!!

    Why "Bye bye Taufik"?

What happened to Taufik? I missed the match.

Chen Yu has put up a good fight against Hendrawen.
Hendrawen has also suffered an eye injury at the end of game 2. It affected his timing and the eye looks a bit swollen. At the start of the 3rd, Hendrawen's game looks like it's back to normal.

    This is one tense match.
ChenYu 14-10, tries a brush off the net, it lands inches out but he thinks it's in winning the match. Has to go back on court!

    CHN has it!!!!!!

Chen has just won! 15-12 third game.
    Some people are booing....to Hendrawen?

chen played more intelligently in the last game. Only playing net when Hendrawen was futher away, lifting when Hendrawen played net.

chen's game is littered with inconsistenscies/unforced errors...

booing? must be Byro/Pebu/Yudhi/Adel and others. :)

this is worrysome. the WC is only a month away, and neither Taufik nor Hendrawan are in form. who else does Indonesia has to compete with the black horses?

perhaps Peter Gade will make it this time round.

    Kwun, you still there?
Of all the bad coincidences, there is an International conference going on in which I'm tutoring/instructing. Only caught the Ina/Chn match. It's about 7pm so there should have been the first s/f at 1pm.

Shouldn't take much more for Hendrawen to be his best. Again lots of lovely deceptive shots at the net. Acceleration to gain the initiative very good. Just a bit unlucky today. Maybe that eye injury just tipped the balance the wrong way.

It could have gone either way

I was watching it at home and I must say it was really exciting, esp in the second set between Chen Hong vs Hidayat Taufik.
I must say that the Zhangs gave me a bit of a shock when they brushed aside Candra and Sigit in the first set 15-4. But they came back storming and win the second set 15-5. The third set was more or less even.....I was hoping for Zhangs to cause an upset but they didn't.
When Candra/Sigit won, I thought that it was over for China.
But Chen Yu proved me wrong! Kudos to him!
It was obvious that Hendrawan was tired in the closing few points of the third set....
But overall, it was a great display of badminton skills.....

    True

I suppose China players are drained after this long encounter with Indonesia.
    Advantage to the opposition perhaps?
