Hey i own that racquet!!! I've using it till last year. After which i changed to ProAce Platinum 530. One disadvantage of the Carbonex 4 is the stringing. It had to be string rather differently. Most of the stringer nowsaday doesn't really know how to string it properly causing the racquet to lose its string tension fast! But the handling of the racquet is rather good!!! And according to what i was told, my Carbonex 4 was made in Taiwan??? So anyone have any idea if its true???
A question to the Yonex historians out there: What number did the Carbonex series start with? And what is the progression number from the first to last? The list on badmintoncentral.com starts from 8, but now I've seen a 4, thus, the curiosity.
I had seen a Cab 3 (Without SP and "Made In Japan" on shaft) which the flame and shaft was in lavender colour.
The original Cab series started with Cab 3 -- wood frame and Carbon shaft and Cab 7 with aluminium head and Carbon shaft in the late 70's. Both rackets were released at the same time. I had a Cab 7 that bit the dust eons ago. Ron
Why would you have to string it differently? I don't have the Cab 4 but most of the Yonex higher end models are all made in Japan except for the lower end. As for the Cab series, I believed that it started at Cab 3 (as Ronk has indicated) and goes up to Cab 25 (and not in sequence). Cab 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 15, 20, 21, 23, 25 (Cab 4 goes in somewhere)
i have owned a cab14, cab18. and i have also seen cab12, cab17. the cabs between 10-20 that i believe never existed is cab19 (correct me if i am wrong)
Would be nice to be able to have pics of the various Cabs. I still have my wooden Cab 3, two Cab 8, one Cab 7, one Cab 10 and one Cab 15. My Cab 20 & 21 was stolen years ago.
Was there a cab 11? I have cab 9 and 21 as well for the pictures. But I put grip on so high that the cone is covered. Not useful for pictures.
i have a super old blue carbonex 1 and pink carb 2 was also wondering whether anyone knew the specifications to these racquets
