Dear All, I'm presently working on the jump smash. And it is far from what a jump smash should be. Hence, I'm posting this video here to get advice from you guys. Kindly take a look at the video and tell me what I should do next etc. http://youtu.be/SL7wy16iM08 There are 4 smashes here. The second one isn't a jump smash. The rest are (if they are at all!).
Check these out. They'll point you in the right direction. https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLC-0YPM5wvPx7BaSVr8QV25ewNpTGdkbh
you need to engage your core more, and part of this requires the leg kick. There was a recent JS thread here: http://www.badmintoncentral.com/for...-A-comprehensive-guide-with-videos-and-images It contains a link to a nice blog post by the OP.
Thank you everyone for the videos and advice. Amleto when u say kick, do I consciously kick? Coz I tried that and it felt very unnatural for me. I probably don't understand the technique.
Well it's time to start building it. Using your core and using a kick in shots makes them substantially more powerful. You can even use a kick on backhand overheads, although it's a lot less prominent. The ideal is the shift your weight with the racket, your leg should naturally follow and step through with it.
plz clear it .. when to kick .. means when about to descend or .. if any video then share the link.. thanks
I'm the OP of the blog post on jump smashing posted earlier, it details everything I have ever experienced in my journey of learning the jump smash, with particular focus on what you are asking here about the kick. Check it out in the link below. https://gtchow.wordpress.com/2015/1...to-performing-the-jump-smash-on-the-internet/
