Do any of you guys use ankle weights, and if so, how and what for? Also, what were the effects of using?

    Thanks.

No, just don't. Just set time goals and increase the speed of the exercise.

I tried doing this and can happily say don't use it. A couple of times I turned my ankles over because of it...

If you want speed and explosive power do plenty of sprinting and squats/split squats with weights.

    Here we go.

Multiple opinions on ankle weights. Lots of things to read there.

Here are some summary points if you do decide to use them:

    a) start off with 2.5lbs on each leg (that's the lightest)

    b) don't play a game with them on - you risk injury (but pros may use them differently)

    c) be careful and practice 'correct' footwork.

    d) don't wear them for long periods

    e) my own personal advice is not all ankle weights are the same - some slip and slide around the ankle which is not good.
