Defending champion Ajay Jayaram who stole the show in KOR SS last month is top contender to extend the title, big hurdle will coming from his compatriots, Praneeth, Gurusaidutt, Pawar. Many low ranked players participate this GP, we'll see whether there's one of them would spring some upsets here. Several European familiar WS players, Schnaase, Gilmour, Kjaersfeldt alongside with Asian representatives such as former champion Firdasari, Hsu YC and Jindapon are expected will go further in this GP. Last year winner Careme/Labar has tough challenge to defend their title, some potential pairs that may shine in this category such as just concluded THA Open runner-up Koo KK/Tan BH, second seed Attri/Reddy, Fuchs/Schoettler, Issara/Puangpuapech and two TPE pairs. Lack of participants produce less competitive in WD discipline, home favourite Muskens/Piek and Bulgarian Stoeva sisters should meet on finale. European mixed doubles who taking part in top-tier tournaments regularly, Germany #1 Fuchs/Michels, local hopeful Arends/Piek, Russian Durkin/Vislova, the comeback Polish combo Mateusiak/Zieba will compete with Asian rivals, Sudket/Saralee, Chrisnanta/Vanessa Neo to upgrade their world ranking, 5.500 points at stake for the winner.
I believe that soo teck zhi has the opportunity to go far this time. I saw the potential in him. I believe he can do it.
Just checked the draw and realised that there will be no participants at all from China, Korea and Japan. Felt that Korea should send more of their young players for tournaments exposure instead of just sending the senior players only for tournaments. Anyway all the best to the players in this tournament.
Also interesting to note that some players from different country event partner together to play in doubles event. Hmm.. Wonder whether they can go far or not in this tournament.
Looking at the XD draw it lists Robert Blair playing with Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth? I don't follow this pair so it may be common knowledge to others but was wondering why they've been paired together?
Today's programme will stage R/64 & R/32 for MS and R/32 WS, XD as well (09.00am local time, 4 courts) => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/...5D6F33-A17F-461A-BAB0-2048BE7147A3&d=20151007 MD & WD first round matches will play tomorrow.
Interesting to note Taufik Hidayat will be there, playing with Eric Pang apparently in doubles in the latter's farewell match on Friday. Of course Dicky Palayama had his against Peter Gade if you remember two years ago ...
Playing men's doubles, who will be their opponent? ROUND OF 16 (09.00am local time, 4 courts) : https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/...5D6F33-A17F-461A-BAB0-2048BE7147A3&d=20151008 Some MS seeded players tumbled at early rounds, Zulkiflli, Praneeth, Tedjono to their European rivals. Title contender Jayaram pushed hard effort to clear first hurdle, home player Caljouw. This third seed should have no problem to pass R/16 and will face either Malaysian Zainuddin or Finland's Lang next. Thai's Jindapon had tough times to overcome German born Belarusian Olga Konon yesterday. Top European WS, Schnaase, Gilmour, Kjaersfedlt as predicted step up to second round also two American Schafer and Wang as well.
Now that I read it again, it doesn't actually say "with" Taufik just with two guest players so probably against Taufik on the other side . Probably more entertaining this way as a demo match ...
To be honest I am very impressed with Patrick Machugh / Patrick Campbell performance in this tournament. They played to well to reach the second round. Now even in the second round tournament they are showing signs of winning. Who are they? Never heard of their name before but hey their performance this far is very good.
