    Hey guys,

Has anyone seen or heard about this - USENSE

It's available in China and Hong Kong but the prices seems to vary from one site to another.

If you're in Hong Kong, E78 are selling them from the looks of it - https://www.facebook.com/e78shop/posts/1053667781328201

I quite like the idea of this device; it will definitely change the way we train.

Here's a review of the device, didn't think much of it - http://www.kicksmarters.com/2015/05/15/review-usense-wireless-badminton-racket-sensor/

Anyone here like to do a more in depth review if they can get it? :)

Sure, I'd love to do a review. I've asked the seller whether they are shipping to Germany. Let's see if I can try this! One possible problem is the weight: 8g is not insubstantial for a Badminton racket.

Its about what 42 pounds or so?

Definitely looks interesting. I am a geek when it comes to all things badminton, lol. Will check it out further, thanks for sharing.

Still cheap for what it does. The Sony tennis sensor which does similar is £169 pounds!!!

    Kindest regards,

I know the company wants me to pronunce as U-Sense but every time I look at it, I want to pronounce as USE-NSE, which comes across to me sounding like USE-LESS. Hahaha.

I think it's just gimmick, marketed to give the illusion it will improve your play. I'm surprised they haven't dropped in adding baseball, cricket, squash, and racquetball as the countless ways to improve.

Still no real practical review with this sensor? Anyone from Hong Kong knows about this?

Got mine in the mail (my and DHL's fault that it took so long) and unpacked it. I'll try to test it tomorrow or Wednesday. Device looks as promised.

I think this device just like fit bit. I don't think it can track your shot pass over the net or smash etc

I'm very sorry, due to injury I couldn't go to the hall today. Will try to find a player willing to test it on Friday - maybe I can even hit my self again then.

Well, certainly not tracking the shuttle. But if it can roughly work out the swing speed, number of hard hits (smashes+clears+flat drives) and soft hits (drop shots, blocks etc), that would be quite useful. A GPS would also be great, but unlike outdoor games, you just cannot get good signals indoor. For a fraction of the money of ZEPP & Sony sensor, I think it is not bad, especially if they can constantly upgrade their detection algorithms using actual playing stats.

Has anyone try using the ZEPP or Sony Sensor on their badminton play? I doubt these two sensors will work with badminton because the hitting and playing style are so much different between badminton & tennis. For example, tennis talk about spin but badminton doesn't.

having an accelerometer and the appropriate software it is possible to gather a lot of data. i have a watch that i wear for swimming, it counts how many laps i swim, how many strokes per length, and even what style i am swimming. i do have to let the watch know what length the pool is and it figures out everything else out.

the environment badminton is in is much more complicated though. i wonder how much more time the company will invest in the software and what type of data it is able to collect, process, and detect.

I have been reading a few, very rare, reviews from China. I just wonder how they can distinguish between a back hand and a fore hand stroke as we always flip our rackets around.
