Last year, powerhouse CHN almost swept all titles except WS. Defending champion and home fave Saina Nehwal will be challenged by reigning WC Carolina Marin and her junior PV Sindhu. Another local hero, world #4 Srikanth Kidambi is expected to bag his homeground GPG title when he lost to Xue Song in 2014 final. Boe/Mogensen is the frontrunner of this GPG, string of dark horses who possibly upset them are Ivanov/Sozonov, Goh/Tan and Conrad/Kolding. Live TV will be broadcasted on Saturday and Sunday for semi and finale.
Does anybody else think it's a little suspicious that 4 of the best pairs on paper in MD are drawn against each other in the first round? MAS Khim Wah Lim MAS Yao Han Ow v RUS Vladimir Ivanov [4] RUS Ivan Sozonov ENG Andrew Ellis ENG Peter Mills v DEN Mads Conrad-Petersen [2] DEN Mads Pieler Kolding ...considering that the rest of the draw is made up predominantly by Indian nobodies. (on the world stage)
Too bad one of them will be axed at very first round, the draw is pretty unbalanced. DAY-2 order of play (09.00am local time, 6 courts) => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/matches.aspx?id=26C69424-0F56-4C3A-A382-C37ABF0090FF MS will be played twice, R/64 at morning session and R/32 later on the evening. Three first round intriguing MD ties to follow : - Lim KW/Ow YH (MAS) v Ivanov/Sozonov (RUS) - Goh VS/Tan WK (MAS) v Attri/Reddy (IND) - Ellis/Mills (ENG) v Conrad/Kolding (DEN) Valadimir Ivanov is really busy player as he's taking part in three disciplines, MS, MD and XD.
Too bad that the good pairs have to meet in the very first round itself.. It's imbalanced. By the way, who decides on this draw..? Is it the respective Badminton Association, or by BWF.. ?

Great fight from aditya prakash before going down to vladimir ivanov in 3 games. Vladimir ivanov won the match with 22-20, 19-21, 21-8.
In the second round, Srikanth escaped by a whisker against kian ming tan of malaysia. It seems like srikanth did not learn yet from his mistakes in the past. He had a comfortable lead but he left it easily. This kian ming tan is also a good player. He matched the pace of srikanth throughout the match. One interesting fact i found about this kian ming tan is that he met srikanth in 2014 as well in the same second round of India GPG and also had the same first round opponent like that of this year. What a coincidence!.
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NLpLl0Ll5JU Srikanth's match with kian ming tan.. But it has only half of the second game and the entire third game.
ROUND OF 16 (12.00pm local time, 4 courts) => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/matches.aspx?id=26C69424-0F56-4C3A-A382-C37ABF0090FF Almost all MS R/16 matches involve home shuttlers except Axelsen v Zulfadli Zulkiffli, rematch of 2011 WJC Final when the Malaysian grabbed World Junior Champion at that time. WS title contenders will have no problem to pass second round.
What a result for manu attri/maneesha..!. Defeated the number 2 seeds in straight games... 23-21, 21-19
Unfortunate , I could not see the live scores now... No idea what's the scores of arundhathi pantawane vs corrales beatrix and boe/carsten vs arun/alwin
Arundhathi defeated fifth seed beatrix corrales in straight games with identical scores... 22-20,22-20
it should be BWF. I haven't looked it up but the process should be described somewhere in the documents. Random draws (apart from the seeds), are not necessarily balanced. The more you try to 'balance' a draw, the more it becomes subject to 'bias'.
QUARTERFINALS (02.00pm local time, 3 courts) => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/...C69424-0F56-4C3A-A382-C37ABF0090FF&d=20150123 As expected, the faves have continued their good run here to book last eight spot. MS top-seed, Srikanth looked shaky at early rounds, pushed extra effort by Malaysian players, Tan KM and Zulkarnain. Today he will take on another MAS shuttler, Chong Wei Feng. However, host IND has assured three semifinal berths, MS, WS and WD.
