Exactly as the thread suggests - how do you feed yourself shuttles?

I tried throwing them up, but I found balancing them on the back face of the racket and throwing them up that way worked a little better. Hoping you guys have some better techniques.

I need this for smash and backhand practises.

For backhand practice, the method you describe works best i.e. balance them on the backhand side of the racket, throw them up and hit a backhand. This does not work for smashes - smashing a vertically falling shuttle is nearly impossible - you will certainly ruin all the shuttles. I would go so far as to say you cannot feed yourself smashes for practice - you need a partner to lift them to you.

I'm only using plastics for self practise. I don't have the money for feathers for self practise.

Feeding yourself is always unnatural. I wouldn't recommend you to do it. Get a partner who feeds you for half an hour, then you feed him for the rest of the hour...

The only way I found that worked is if you hit it vertically very high, then position yourself to smash it.

But the shuttle will be coming down vertically, so is not easy to smash but you can practice your backhand like this.
