Morten Frost revealed a new development in the Denmark team. Starting with the French Open, Christinna Pedersen will no longer play XD with Joachim Fischer. She will solely concentrate on her WD with Kamilla Rytter Juhl. Joachim Fischer will pair up with Marie Roepke (who currently plays WD with Line Damkjaer Kruse) in future tournaments.
I wonder what the players from Asia do between the Den open and Fr open. There is one week to kill. Shopping?
If this is confirmed, I think it is very nice. Pedersen looks exhausted at times. To concentrate on WD will enhance her performance. Fischer is quite old. He might retire soon, so it is better he help grooming young players. Beside, I never quite liked Pedersen's attitude when playing with Fischer. She is good, but sometimes gives me the feeling of being out of place.
unfortunately one of these MAS MD pair will gonna face reigning Denmark SSP MD champion Fu Haifeng/Zhang Nan, and unlikely the MAS pair will beat them...
Those players from Asia who went full stretch at the AG (team and individual) and the DEN PSS will most certainly have their endurance tested at the French Open. Maybe that's why KOR chose to skip the French Open. It should be tough for Team CHN to repeat their DEN success this week, expect some upsets along the way to the finals. In MS, without Lin Dan, LCW and Chen Long, the field is thrown wide open.
Interesting. So in the XD, there's potential for INA's Ahmad/Natsir to meet CHN's Xu/Majin again. Felt that INA were great leading up to the finals in DEN but Ahmad seemed to crumble and CHN took advantage of his weak defense returns to good results. Also hoping SIN can get some good results but seeing Chrisnanta/Vanessa has to get past Xu/Majin in the QF, I'm doubtful...
