I've been playing for 10years of Badminton. Consider as high intermediate i would say. But nowadays i found my footwork probably slow. Not as fast as previous. Previously, after a hard back court smash. I still able to run n cover front net drop. But now sometimes can cover sometimes totally cannot reach to net on time. Any idea or suggestion that can improve of speed n footwork ? PS. Single player. Offensive style. Currently using AT700
Make sure when you smash you're leaning forward so that your weight is also pushed forward and helps you get to the net. Also split step is very essential in footwork! & PRACTICEEEE to be honest as I gradually play faster players I feel like my footwork is more stable and I am able to keep up! Also singles player U16
The more you age, the more speed you lose. It is just that simple. Unless you are under 20, you will be slower year by year.
22 now . Getting older i guess. Haha. I did the smash leaning forward n split step. Probably lack of practice i think.
You could be choosing to smash at the disadvantageous part of the rally. The opponent could be covering the court well on defence but you still choose to smash. If you are smashing and trying to create an opening in the forecourt, surely you should be anticipating that area and therefore not waste time on a split step.
at the smash, lean forward, do a scissor kick, bring your racket leg forward and the non-racket leg backward, then use it to push yourself. also make sure the knee pf the non racket leg is straighten, not bended, so you don't fall back
