Last week I clashed my mp 99 while i was warming up with a friend....:(

    $200 down the drain!!!

Well so neways, the next day I got another 99, but it was a fake ($20 US). I could tell since the serial # on the racket wasn't engraved, but painted on. And there wern't even any of those red muscle power bump things. I played with it yesterday and although i don't like to say it.........IT PLAYS MUCH BETTER!

    1. tell that to JR :p
    2. since u prefers light rackets (ie, ur profile), fakes maybe is right for u as most fakes are very light and has a $ 8 paint job, $1 grip, and a $5 bare racket .:p ($6 goes to the manufacturer and reseller) :p

well, you haven't do the clash test yet, have you?:)

Give it a try, and you might see how fragile the fakes are.

But at least if it breaks a replacement is only a few bucks rather than a couple of hundred.

The fakes and clonex ones are generally lighter and more flex than yonex. Therefore, u might just find a better choice by accident. I know this guy in my club, using a fake MP100 (he knows it). He claims this racket fits for him much better than the real one (too stiff for him). So, good for him, less $$$, better performance.

But, make it clear, I am fine with clonex, but not a supporter for fakes...

Also, you might not get consistent quality of the replacement if you break the fake racquet. Quality control is not high on the fakers' priority list:p.

well, i dont know any products are warrantied for user error. If i buy a ferrari and hit the ditch, i dont go blame ferrari. People who keep crashing their expensive cars should drive hydundai in the first place.

I have been using my mp99 for 13 months, with clashes and hitting on concrete floor. It is still very solid in one piece. ( and i dont pay much attention stringing my own racket)

    funny logic.
i find it funny how people blame ford or HP(assembler of components made elsewhere for example) if their car or PC fail Yet, here, people dont blame the user or the assembler (stringer) if the racket fail but blame the component maker (yonex, carlton, etc)

    IT plays better?
    Or do YOU play better?

Maybe Real Yonex MP-99 was not best suited to you.
The fake is materially different in some way, and maybe it suits you better.

i swear cooler... as you get older, i find it harder to understand your postings. wut u mean buddy? isn't the second sentence same as first? aren't HP, Ford, Yonex all similar as large corporations (other than different products)?

OOPS! I swear - as I get older, I can't read worth a damn! Okay, my bad...

    good work kwun;)

ford buys parts from mexico, japan, china, south america, usa and assemble the parts to form a car/truck/suv. If the car breaks down, drivers automatically blame ford. In racket, the final assembly is done by the stringer. if a racket fails, the player usually don't automatically point the finger at the assembler (stringer) but at component makers like yonex and carlton. Making components, whether bumpers or rackets, are pretty well consistent with high quality control**. The final product reliability usually reside on the assembler's duty. In this case, ford and the stringer.

** with exception like bridgestone and goodyear tires. However, ford knew about it though.

Guys, while we're all on the subject of fakes, I've gotten pretty concerned about buying on ebay. Was hoping if you could tell me:

    1) what to look for
    2) how can u tell if its a fake by the serial number?

    and how about these auctions?

    http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3657124278&category=2919#ebayphotohosting

    and my biggest concern:

    lastly:

    Thanks a lot all,

First one is by lawrence,a good seller, so it's OK
Second one is a NO, obviously it's a fake
Third one looks very good, but I am uncertain about it and unfamiliar with the seller.
