well Hendra just said that they will have no target for the tournaments in 2023. He is having dinner with LiuYuchen ( Liu probably treats him).

To me , it depends what is good result. But seeing them in WR8 (i think they will finish WR3 year end). So this is still a very good results. Definitely at this juncture, they dont look at number of titles cause reaching SF and F they also make good money.

2023 onwards more tour money, just from that aspect they arent going to retire.

Viktor is almost invincible. Only Prannoy and Loh can beat him repeatedly. Prannoy uses patient game whereas Loh uses fastpaced game. And Sen also tasted a victory this year. I dont think any other person can beat him at present. But the problem is , these 3 will lose to anybody else . No consistency at all.

Ou Xuanyi has improved quite a bit but still occasionally suffers from nervous bouts, luckily there's Liu Yuchen whose front-court play is as good as any of the best and who's the more experienced, calm and self-possessed one able to steady the ship and motivate OXY to rise to the occasion and turn the match around. And that's what happened when LYC/OXY won G1, dropped G2 and then came back to take G3 and the match to lift the trophy.

At the same time, The Evergreen Ahsan/Setiawan, at 35 and 38 years old respectively, deserve our utmost respect for they proved for the umpteenth time what a formidable pair they made despite their advanced age in badminton terms.

They shd do cross over semifinals. Doesn't make sense to play same player twice. ;)

Yes agreed, but now even Volleyball is implementing this rule.
So in order to win or achieve good result, we need not only good skill but also luck.

With less travels, Axelsen can win 7 or more SS next year.

Is he better than LCW or LD? Let his total number of titles speak for itself.

The axelsen today is different from the player who lost his first 6 SS finals. (And i can say travel is part of it).

He comes to tournaments so much more fresh now you wouldnt think he is 25.

Also i think professional career is the way forward for badminton. With increased in prize money, that can be done. Still a long way to go though.

I saw in Wiki Viktor had 32 career titles so far, LD had 66 while LCW had 69. Interesting to see if he is able to surpass the 2 legends.

Viktor is 2 times world champion and 1 time Olympics champion which LCW did not. LCW and his whole country tried so hard to attain this feat. But could not. I would give more importance to Olympics gold and world championship title which makes his country proud instead of tournament titles which is for his personal gain. Even though these titles are good and not achieved by ordinary players, I would say Viltor had already surpassed LCW in terms of it. No doubt LCW is s legend , but Viktor to me is already a legend.

Just 4 single players and 2 pairs who can win All England, World Championship-Olympic, Super Series Final- World Tour Finals in a year:

    2012: Li Xuerui
    2019: Momota, Ahsan/Setiwan, Zheng/Huang
    2022: Viktor and Yamaguchi

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Whatever you are, Beast or Goat or something like that.

NO ONE win all super tour 1000 + WC/OC + SSF/WTFs not only in a year but also in history.

    World Championship or Olympic.
    SSF or WTFs.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
    I count. ^-^

Just search the champion of "the three titles" list.

Year by year, then get the result.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Lin Dan and Chen Long, didn't have Indonesia Open
    Taufik, didn't have All England.
Lee Chong Wei and Momota, didn't have Olympic
Peter Gade, didn't have World Champion and Olympic.

Viktor didn't have China Open tour 1000

What Terry means is players who have won All England + either WC or Olympics + either SSF or WTF in the same year.

Players who have won all 5 (or 4, if we say SSF = WTF) are a different thing. But I think the whole point of Terry's post was the "in the same year" part.

i think no meaning for saying Either Olympic or WC because it is very good player to win both.
Players who won both are considered to be more prestigious than player who can only win one.

Consistency, that's the toughest job to do and maintain...

In tennis, Steffi Graf carved Golden Slam in 1988 (all four Grand Slams + Seoul OG Gold Medal).
Apart of the oldest badminton tournament All England, other S1000 tours are less prestigious and remembered, only offer alluring prize money for badminton players.

Axelsen will get there i think if he stays motivated ~> 60+ titles. And of course by the time he is close to that numbers, there comes the WC or OG. If its 30+ its still too far away.

I would stay wanna see him stay consistent to be at LCW / LD level. Weeks as WR1, etc..

I see VA doing that. So far I dont see anybody that would consistently challenge him in his prime. i kinda think VA is gonna get a similar critique as Federer that he dominated a not so strong era where he entered his prime when the greats were already on there way out. Momota couldve been his "LCW" or "LD" kind of rival but that got derailed by the accident.

So disappointed with the way Prannoy fizzled out from the second game onwards. He looked tired, unfit, nervous, and made so many unforced errors. But anyway, congrats for his medal.

Most of the times I would just stop watching with no Indians left. But I am a curious about the game between Carolina and ASY. Carolina looks fully recovered and close to her prime, while ASY has been a dominant player of recent times.
