Ok, it looks like a new design. Could the hard feeling be coming from the insole instead?

When I get mine I'll be using my custom orthotics anyway, so I think I can give a pretty direct comparison on the shoe feeling.

This is my first pair of Yonex shoes so I don't have anything Yonex to compare to. I'm 6'2, 195lbs and I have pretty bad feet issues in regards to them getting sore (arches mostly). It might have something to do with being close to 200lbs, having high arches as well as haglunds deformity/pump bump, and only having size 9.5(us) feet (the smaller the foot the more pressure per square area on each foot!). I wear custom orthotics and those have done wonders and I also double sock wearing RKEP socks as well as compression socks (compression sock due to previous tear of my soleus muscle down near the bottom of the muscle, not badminton related). I found that after a brief break in period of 4-5 sessions the Comfort Z shoes fit like a slipper now. If they were available in Canada in the red and black I'd buy a second pair immediately!

Looking at the insoles, they don't look as thick overall as the old SC design. Maybe that's why the shoe feels harder.

I've measured and at the toe it is 4-7mm. The insoles have a top and bottom layer and at the toe the top layer is wavy so depending on whether you are measuring at the crest or the trough of the top layers waves the insole is either 4 or 7mm

I've seen these at the shop. The stock insoles are the usual rubbish thin stuff compared to the amazon JP stuff the SC6LD came with.

Hmm ok, then I very much suspect it's just the insole that's been changed. Hopefully the mid sole isn't worse than the CFT.

It looks like my SHB 03 LCW are going to arrive first, will try to compare those with CFT, and then Comfort Z WM with both.

Comfort Z WM is nice shoes which good cushioning. I think insole of shoes is bit harder , so Yonex need to work on it to get the softer feel as player required. Yonex Confort Z shoes series is good for pro players.

When you say insole, you mean the thing you can pull out of the shoe right? Honestly I don’t recommend anyone plays on their insoles, terrible.

YY's best insoles are the ones you can only get from Japan. They used them stock in their SC6LD. Those things are fantastic. Their regular insoles for all other shoes however is utter bollocks and shite.

I have a set of comfort z wide mid at home waiting for me, from shuttle house, and I bet the insoles are still no good for playing in. On the plus side, I just chuck them in my regular shoes for walking around, at least they’re a little comfortable

Right, so I've taken a poke around.

The sole isn't really any stiffer than other power cushion soles. The power cushion+ feels stiffer, but like it has more depth before it bottoms out. The triple layer power cushion feels like it has a smoother shock absorption curve than the Comfort Z.

    Trying them out tonight.

and which ones are those? Are they the power cushion ones you can buy standalone?

I just looked up their catalog and saw they released two new insoles, wonder if they're any good.

they only came out last month, are you sure you're not talking about ac192
otherwise, I'd now learn to be thankful my insoles actually last me a few months
and here I am whining about how often I have to switch them...

Right, so after using it for a night, I have a few thoughts:
(I used my custom insoles, not using the crap that ships)
    1) The shape is weird, feels more roomy at the toe; not sure I like the contours
    2) It feels a lot flatter, where the CFT had some elevation in the heel, this lacked it
    3) Not a fan of the tongue; they reinvented the wheel with a hexagon. I get they're experimenting, but it's not great.
    4) Because of the design with eyelets one side and fabric hoops on the other, it's difficult to get the shoe fitting tightly to your foot
    5) The heel is not padded enough to create a snug fit
    6) The shoe is stiff in all the wrong places; the inside edge felt weird stiff and unforgiving, making it less comfortable than the CFT
    7) It's really light compared to the CFT
    8) The PowerCushion+ can behave a bit weirdly, because it can depress so much, it can almost make your heel a little less stable when you land on a deep lunge. That said, the padding is good on the heel.

I'm a bit disappointed. I feel like they've over engineered the shoe with crap nobody wanted or asked for; we all just want a nice snug padded shoe that doesn't weigh a ton; they've somehow foregone some of that criteria to show off they can make a tongue without two bits of elastic.

It is neither of these. The ones I refer to come precut in specific sizes. Not like the usual insoles where you get a range of a few sizes and cut it down to fit.
