Hello everyone, I'm looking for a club to drop into a for a session or two on the way through Kota Kinabalu on my travels - does anyone know of any, and how they work? I'm an English club-level player, looking to meet other people and have a game! If anyone can give me the correct/polite way to ask if I can borrow a racket in Malaysian, that would be great too! Thanks, Jonny
Hi Ted, KK is the first place where we'll be landing in Malaysia, before heading to Indonesia for a couple of months - we'll then be going to Kuala Lumpur and Peninsular Malaysia!
Jonny, you could join our session here in Kuala Lumpur or Selangor area. You could see the list of social sessions we have via this link http://www.zealsports.com.my/hub
Exact dates bro? I used to be in KK a while back, now down in KL most of the time. The group im playing often back in KK plays as follows: Location: Yayasan Sabah Mon / Wed / Friday 6pm onwards till 830pm This group is consistent, theres training and playing too. Fees is at RM10-15 depending but usually RM10. Must contribute shuttles ad hoc during games (we take turns to contribute shuttles) Location: Yayasan Sabah Tues / Thurs 8pm-10pm Consistent, all ex-state / ex-junior national players, Fees less than RM10 but Must contribute shuttles ad hoc during games (we take turns to contribute shuttles) Location: Maktab Sabah (School hall) Sunday 6pm onwards till 11pm Fees RM12-18 depending on how many ppl come and play, shuttle contribution is optional. Let me know what are your exact dates in Kota Kinabalu, ill help you out. Ill be back on the 6/7 until 14/7 for work and badminton play. Cheers!
Nice info bro as every year I will dropped by Sabah once and always wonder where can get session to join. LOL... Thx a lots. BTW any captain or contacts for all this group???
Hi AezranHakim, that sounds great! I just miss you though - I'm in KK around the 18th for a few days, and possibly again towards the end of the month for flying out! Would the Mon/Weds/Fri group be open to turn up to as a stranger?
Yeap, open to strangers too bro, you can play or train depending on whats convenient to you. Its a small group of friends which over the years are like family. Let me know if you need help, and yes forgot to inform you, racquet rental or borrowing is not really a tradition... but you can always look at the local shops for a decent racquet going for 100-250MYR range? Use it, and prolly sell it for a slight loss before you fly out?
